Three fires were reported by departments around the area.
Trenton firefighters responded to a car fire at around 4:07 PM. Sunday at 1905 E 9th St. in Trenton, according to the report. Employees at the drive-in restaurant had put out the fire using a fire extinguisher prior to the fire department’s arrival. Firefighters checked for hot spots. They were on the scene for about 30 minutes. The vehicle had extensive damage in the engine compartment.
The Hale Fire Protection District responded to two separate fires on Saturday. Both originated as burns on private property but spread beyond their intended areas. At the time of both incidents, Red Flag Warnings were in place.
The Hale Fire Chief reported in one incident the fire was reported as a controlled burn, and spread beyond the property of origin and resulted in damage to standing Oak timber on a neighboring property.
The second fire was ignited on one property, crossed a property line, and burned a neighboring hay field, damaging green grass that had already begun its seasonal growth.
The Hale Fire Chief says allowing a fire to spread onto another person’s property may constitute a violation of the state law. Two citations were issued by the Sheriff’s Department.
