The purchase of property for a future bus barn and maintenance facility was approved by the Chillicothe R-II School Board. Superintendent Dr Dan Wiebers says they purchased the John Hutchinson property, just north of the Chillicothe R-II School Administrative Building, for $500,000.
About 5 ½ acres including the house and metal building.
Dr Wiebers says NO district operating funds were used for the purchase.
Wiebers explained the district plans to sell the current bus barn property on the south end of Chillicothe, with the proceeds used to help fund necessary updates and improvements at the new site. There is no timeline to move, as they need to sell the current site to make the improvements.
