A report of a house fire at 745 Samuel Street summoned the Chillicothe Fire Department on Friday evening. The call came in at about 5:06 pm, and the firefighters arrived in three minutes to find smoke coming from the front door, and fire was seen from the windows at the back of the home.
Walls and ceiling areas were removed to put out the fire, and thermal imaging cameras were used to find hot spots. About 1,000 gallons of water were used to put out the fire.
The tenant states a box heater was in use near a couch while he was sleeping in another room.
The fire crew was on the scene for nearly 90 minutes.
