Chillicothe Firefighters responded to a structure fire at 904 W. Mowhawk at about 10:52 am Thursday. They arrived on scene in three minutes to find light smoke coming from the home. And the owner reported animals were inside. In a room at the back of the home, the fire crew found bedding and an office chair on fire. They also noted an extension cord plugged into a black light that was sitting on the chair. The cord was one of several items plugged into one outlet.

The resident was told that an electrician would need to be called before power was restored.
The fire crew was on the scene for about 50 minutes.
