Mudcats Lose Big At Home Against Clarinda To Begin Homestand

The Chillicothe Mudcats suffer a crushing defeat at home against the Clarinda A’s on Tuesday evening in the start of a six-game homestand.

It was the A’s in control from the get-go on Tuesday. They struck for five runs right off the bat in the top of the first inning. Sean Bazmore scored the first run of the game when he crossed the dish on a dropped third strike after the throw went down to first base, 1-0 Clarinda three batters in. The next batter, Theo Anderson, hit a sacrifice fly to center field to score Andrew Young and make it 2-0 A’s. Later in the inning, Brayden Olsen stung a three-run, bases clearing double into left-center field. 5-0 Clarinda after the first.

In the second, the A’s tacked on five more. Parker McNeal tallied an RBI hit-by-pitch to send home Cole Baumgart for the first run of the inning, 6-0 Clarinda. Two batters later, Brayden Olsen recorded his fourth RBI of the evening after he walked, scoring on the play was Theo Anderson, 7-0 A’s. The very next batter, Andy Gill, hit a ball back to the mound, but a throwing error on the Mudcats allowed everyone to be safe on the bases, and John Petrie scored on the play to make it 8-0. Sean Bazmore continued the inning with an RBI walk scoring McNeal to make it 9-0. Andrew Young capped off the scoring in the second inning with a sacrifice fly of his own to score Olsen and the A’s held a commanding 10-0 lead after two innings.

In the third, Clarinda got three more. Oscar Yuhas doubled in a pair of Athletics to begin the scoring in the inning and make it 12-0. Later in the inning, Brayden Olsen scored on a passed ball and that extended the A’s lead to 13 runs, 13-0 after three innings.

In the fifth, Clarinda put two more on the scoreboard. A sacrifice fly from Cooper Eberly scoring Grant Lokken made it 14-0, and a Mudcat error scored Evan Bradshaw, and Clarinda had complete dominance through five innings, 15-0 A’s.

Clarinda closed out its dominant victory on Tuesday with one run in each of the sixth and seventh. In the sixth, it was a Parker McNeal groundout scoring Theo Anderson to make it 16-0, and in the seventh it was another Mudcat error that scored Evan Bradshaw and the score stuck at 17-0.

That would also be the final score, the Mudcats get completely browbeaten against the A’s by the final score of 17-0 on Tuesday evening.

Chillicothe is back at Shaffer Park on Wednesday evening against the North Missouri Natty’s, first pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
