Friday evening at Shaffer Park brought out former Mudcat players to take the field against the Kansas City Monarchs, and the ‘old-timer’ Mudcats could not pull out the victory on Friday evening against the visitors.
Kansas City struck for a run in the top of the third to take the lead, and it was 1-0 after the third inning in favor of the Monarchs.
The inning that hurt the former Mudcat players was the top of the fourth. Kansas City struck for a glaring 12 runs in the inning, and led 13-0 after four innings of play.
Kansas City got one more in the fifth and led it 14-0 after the top of the fifth.
The ‘old-timers’ got a run in the fifth, two in the seventh, and one final run in the eighth, and that was all the scoreboard saw on Friday evening.
The Monarchs take the win by a final score of 14-4 in the exhibition game on Friday evening, in what was a fun evening out at Shaffer Park for all former players and coaches, and fans in attendance.
The current Chillicothe Mudcats return to action on Saturday evening against the Carroll Merchants out at Shaffer Park where the celebration weekend and all the fun festivities of the 25th anniversary of Chillicothe Mudcats baseball will continue.
The Mudcats will enter the game on Saturday with a 5-14 record, and have won back-to-back games.
First pitch on Saturday against the Merchants is at 7:05 p.m.
