An ordinance to allow for hiring of part-time seasonal employees when there is no City Administrator was approved Monday by the Chillicothe City Council. An ordinance had been presented at the previous council meeting, but there was a request for clarification and changes. City Clerk Amy Hess made the presentation to the Council at Monday’s meeting.
Upon further discussion, it was clear the approvers would be the Mayor and Councilman At Large. Third Ward Councilman Manny Morales expressed reservations about the approval requirements.
The ordinance did require the city council to set the part-time pay rate if it were to be above minimum wage. The council chose to set the pay at minimum wage.
The council voted 4-0 to approve, with Morales abstaining.
