Chillicothe Watermain Flushing

Watermain flushing continues in Chillicothe, with work taking place from Polk Street south to the railroad tracks. CMU Water Services Superintendent Chris Bonderer says the department is flushing fire hydrants both east and west of Washington Street. Bonderer says this could result in a change in the appearance of their water.

Cut 1 16 sec Result in cloudy or discolored water. To clear this, open a tub faucet or outdoor spigot and allow it to run for a while.

He says the purpose of the project is to flush sediment from the system, which, if left unchecked, could cause issues in the future.

Bonderer says the flushing of water mains will be done as weather permits. When it is hot and dry, the water demand goes up, and they will reduce the flushing activities.
