Lois J. Jones

Lois J. Jones, age 88, a resident of Chillicothe, Missouri, and a lifetime resident of Livingston, County, passed away on Sunday, July 19, 2026, at Liberty Hospital, Liberty, Missouri.
Lois was born the daughter of John Elmer and Ella Mattie (Norman) Lowe on March 21, 1938, in Wheeling, Missouri. She was a 1955 graduate of Hale High School. Lois was united in marriage to John M. Jones on November 25, 1964, at the Liberty United Methodist Church. He preceded her in death on May 6, 1981.
Lois was a member of the Liberty United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday school for over 20 years. She was also involved in Liberty 4-H club as a leader and later as a volunteer for 50 years. Lois enjoyed birdwatching; she loved the humming birds and cardinals that would visit her feeders and the flowers in her flower beds. She enjoyed cooking, baking and crocheting snowflakes and doilies. Many people were recipients of both at Christmas, birthdays, and reunions. Lois also volunteered her time delivering Meals on Wheels. She loved playing cards with friends and family.
Survivors include her son, Maurice Jones of Chillicothe, Missouri; three daughters, Jeannette (Darrell) Johnson of Hale, Missouri, Melody (Keith) Mantlo of Trenton, Missouri, and Brenda (Jason) Cockrell of Ballwin, Missouri; three grandchildren, Sarah Johnson, John Ray and Jennifer Ray; several great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John M.; and two sisters, Jo Ann Brown and Mary Finney.
Funeral services will be held at Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Friday, July 24, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. A scheduled visitation will also be held at Lindley Funeral Home on Thursday, July 23, 2026, from 6:00 pm. until 8:00 p.m. Friends may call at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Thursday, July 23, 2026, from 12:00 noon until 8:00 p.m. Burial will be held at Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Chillicothe, Missouri. Memorial contributions may be made to Liberty 4-H Club and may be left at or mailed to Lindley Funeral Home, P.O. Box 47, Chillicothe, Missouri, 64601.
