A single-vehicle crash in Chariton County early this (Thursday) morning left the driver with moderate injuries. The Missouri Highway Patrol investigated the crash that occurred at about 1:42 am on Highway 11, three miles south of Mendon. According to the report, a 21-year-old Brookfield woman was northbound when she fell asleep and ran off the left side of the road, struck an embankment, and her vehicle became airborne before coming to rest off the roadway.
The woman. who was not wearing a safety belt, was taken to University Hospital in Columbia for treatment of moderate injuries.
