An Airport Wildlife ordinance was presented to the Chillicothe City Council at Monday’s meeting. Airport Director Toby Calivere presented the document that spells out the methods of management, including non-lethal deterrence.
Some of these include 8-10 foot perimeter fencing, wildlife guards or cattle gates at access points, and culvert and drainage gates to prevent access. This also addresses habitat modification, audible deterrence, visual deterrence, harassment devices, and several other non-lethal methods.
Lethal methods are also listed. These may include firearm use for wildlife control, within the FAA rules and wildlife hazard assessment and management plans. These may include firearms and archery.
The new ordinance was approved unanimously.
