State Troopers responded to two serious injury crashes in the area counties over the weekend.
Saturday in Carroll County, a motorcycle crash with a deer at about 4:35 pm left the driver, a 62-year-old man from Dawn, injured. The report states the man was southbound on Route JJ, south of Route W, when he struck the deer. He was flown to University Hospital in Columbia for treatment. He was not wearing a helmet.
Sunday in Chariton County, at about 11:53 am, an 82-year-old man from Buckner was injured in a crash with a Chariton County Deputy. According to the report by State Troopers, the Buckner man was westbound, driving a side-by-side, and struck the westbound Sheriff’s vehicle several times, overcorrected, and ran off the south side of the road. His UTV overturned, and the man was ejected. He was flown to University Hospital in Columbia for treatment. The deputy was not injured.
