The Chillicothe Police Department responded to more than 200 calls for service over the weekend, with arrests, traffic crashes, and several investigations reported from Friday through Sunday.
Friday, Officers responded to a report of a man with a knife in the 200 block of Washington Street. Witnesses reported seeing the man stabbing a parking bollard. He was arrested, and officers discovered a controlled substance. He was taken to the Caldwell County Detention Center on a 24-hour hold.
Officers also investigated a theft and an assault, and two drivers were injured in a crash at U.S. 65 and Highway 190 and transported to the hospital. In a separate incident, a stolen Chillicothe Hornets flag was recovered, and a woman was arrested and later cited.
Saturday, A traffic stop near Brunswick Street and Storey Lane led to a K-9 search, the discovery of controlled substances and the driver’s arrest. The driver was taken to the Caldwell County Detention Center on a 24-hour hold. Officers also handled a two-vehicle crash with no injuries, a verbal domestic disturbance and several well-being checks.
Sunday, Officers arrested a driver on suspicion of driving while intoxicated during a traffic stop near Broadway and Calhoun Streets. The driver was later released with a citation. Police also recovered a bicycle believed to have been stolen, with an investigation ongoing.
Late Sunday night, officers detained an intoxicated juvenile who was banging on a residence door and yelling obscenities. The juvenile was released to parents, and a report will be forwarded to the Juvenile Office.
