Livingston County residents can check their Iron levels in a discounted blood draw offered through the month of October by the Livingston County Health Center. The $10 Iron Blood Panel is available any Tuesday or Thursday in October from 8 to 10 a.m. The screening has a normal cost of $35.
Low iron levels can be associated with blood loss, inadequate iron intake, or problems absorbing iron. Iron deficiency can eventually contribute to anemia and symptoms such as fatigue, weakness, shortness of breath, headaches, dizziness, or difficulty concentrating. On the other hand, unusually high iron levels may also warrant further medical evaluation.
Appointments are not required.
