The Chairman of the US House Ag Committee, Congressman GT Thompson of Pennsylvania, was in Chillicothe Friday afternoon for an Ag Forum. The event was part of a campaign stop for Missouri 6th District candidate Chris Stigall.
Several topics were covered, including the Agriculture Workforce. Thompson talked about SAWA, the Securing Agriculture Workforce Act, and the H2A Visas.
In 1995 11,000 positions filled, now that number is 400,000.
Thompson also discussed Livestock and Crop Risk Management.
Ag risk management to help farmers with weather conditions that they cannot control.
The Farm Bill has passed in the House and been sent to the Senate for their consideration before it is sent to the President for his signature.
