Chillicothe opened Friday with an 8-1 victory over Blair Oaks in six innings. Blair Oaks scored once in the first, but the Lady Hornets answered with five runs in the bottom half before adding three more in the second. Jordan Foster earned the win, allowing three hits and striking out eight in six innings. Ellie Acree went 3-for-3, while Chillicothe finished with seven hits.
The Lady Hornets then defeated Savannah 6-1. Chillicothe took a 1-0 lead in the third before Savannah tied the game in the fourth. Chillicothe broke the deadlock with five runs in the top of the seventh. The Lady Hornets collected nine hits to Savannah’s four, with Landry Marsh, Kylee Link and Ashlynn Daugherty each recording two hits. Daugherty drove in two runs and added a triple. Marsh pitched six innings and struck out 11 while allowing four hits, with Foster pitching the seventh.
Chillicothe continued its offensive attack Saturday with a 13-3 win over Mexico in five innings. The Lady Hornets scored in every inning and never trailed, pounding out 17 hits compared to six for Mexico. Maddie Robinson went 4-for-4, while Foster pitched all five innings and recorded two strikeouts.
The tournament ended with Oak Grove handing Chillicothe a 4-1 loss, snapping the Lady Hornets 24-game winning streak. Oak Grove scored three times in the second inning to take a 4-1 lead, and Chillicothe was unable to generate another rally, finishing with three hits. Link had one of the hits and scored Chillicothe’s lone run.
Marsh started in the circle and pitched the first four innings, allowing three hits and three earned runs while striking out five. Foster worked the final two innings, allowing no hits and striking out three.
Despite the final loss, Chillicothe emerged from the Kewpie Classic with three wins and is now 24-2 on the season.
