The Chillicothe Lady Hornets wrapped up another Midland Empire Conference championship Monday with a 20-3 victory over Bishop LeBlond in softball, completing a remarkable run of conference dominance.
The championship is Chillicothe’s seventh consecutive MEC title. Since 2020, the Lady Hornets have gone 46-1 in conference play, with the lone blemish coming in 2022 when Chillicothe shared the conference championship with Savannah.
This year’s senior class finishes its career without losing a conference game.
Chillicothe wasted little time putting Monday’s game away, scoring six runs in the first inning, two in the second, six in the third and six more in the fourth. The game ended after four innings with the Hornets holding a 20-3 advantage.
The Hornets collected 11 hits and took advantage of six Bishop LeBlond errors.
Ellie Acree led the offense, going 2-for-4 with a home run, three runs scored and two RBI. Jordan Foster went 2-for-3 with two runs and four RBI, while Ashlynn Daugherty was 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.
Maddie Robinson also collected two hits and scored a run. Hope Donoho went 1-for-2 with two runs and an RBI, while Landry Marsh added a hit and a run. Abby Marshall had a hit, scored once and drove in a run.
Robinson earned the pitching victory, working four innings and allowing six hits and three runs, with two walks.
With the victory, Chillicothe added another chapter to one of the most consistent conference stretches in the program’s history: seven straight MEC championships and a 46-1 conference record since 2020.
