On an abnormally hot mid-October day, the CHS girls tennis team hosted the LeBlond team for the district quarterfinals match between the number three seed and number six seed. Chillicothe dominated on every court all night at Danner Park. It started with Jocelynn Albrecht and Halle Gabrielson winning their doubles match in record time. Then, right behind them, Isabel Nagel and Anya Moore won handily as they usually do. Finally, after a smidge of frustration with the strong winds, Lexy Smith and Lydia Bonderer locked in and finished their doubles match strongly. Then, the group moved on to singles play, up 3-0, with the first team reaching five wins, ends the night to save energy for the following night of districts. All of Chillicothe’s top six players started off very strong with quick points, and every player picked up their first set win, even on the #1 court, where Smith was up on the recent individual state qualifier in singles. But freshman London Douglas won her two sets in what Coach Chambers claimed as the fastest two sets she’s ever seen played, with the most consistent in-bound hitting, taking the team score to 4-0. Finally, for her 16th birthday, Isabel Nagel finished her sets with a resounding win as well. All other courts were stopped, and Chillicothe went home quickly to rest for the big semi-finals matchup away at Maryville on Tuesday night. Results were as follows:
