A vehicle stolen in Brookfield Monday evening was part of a chase that went through Livingston County. Sheriff Steve Cox says deputies were dispatched to US 36 for the vehicle that was traveling at a high rate of speed at it was westbound heading into the county. A deputy reported being on US 36 at Utica where construction had the road narrowed to a single lane, and was nearly run into from behind.
The vehicle passed the deputy in the median and later passed other vehicles in the median. Spike strips were deployed in Caldwell County but were not successful in stopping the suspect. A deputy did hit the spike strip and had to leave the chase.
Cox says the vehicle has been located somewhere in Kansas. If you have information on who may be responsible for stealing that vehicle, you are asked to call your local law enforcement agency or the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
