The first Chillicothe Lady Hornets cross country team to qualify for state since 1987 finished in 15th place with 336 points. St Louis John Burroughs won the team title with 59 points and fellow MEC School St Pius X finished in 10th place in Class 3.
For the Lady Hornets, Aliyah Briner was 50th overall in a time of 22:52, Kadence Shipers was 89th in 22:53, Julian Gabrielson finished 97th in 23:06, Kaylynn Cranmer was 141st in 25:37 and Emily Shipers was 151st in 29:59 out of 156 competitors, The entire Lady Hornets team are underclassmen with one Junior, three Sophomores and a freshman. The winning individual from Lutheran North won the race in a time of 18:54.
In the Boys race, Chillicothe’s lone qualifier Hayden Simmer finished 97th out of 168 entries, finishing in a time of 18:46. He is the first Hornet Boys state qualifier since 2016. The winning time was 15:41 from Eldorado Springs.
