The Missouri Drivers License and state issued Identification Cards are NOT Real-ID compliant, to meet the requirements of the Federal Government. The Real ID compliant identification is a requirement to gain access to federal building and to be allowed to board domestic flights. In late 2017, Missouri was granted an extension to October 10th of 2018 to complete the process of developing a compliant ID.
State Representative Rusty Black says on Friday, the Missouri Department of Revenue was told that the Department of Homeland Security granted a grace period for the use of current Missouri identification through January 22, 2019.
This means that your constituents will be able to use their current Missouri identification for federal purposes at least through that date.
Black says Missouri has applied for a full extension through October 10th of 2019 and we are still hopeful that will be granted and announced soon. He says Missouri will not be able to issue Real ID compliant identification until March of 2019.
