The Chillicothe Hornets Soccer team picked up a big win over Maryville 2-1 in overtime Tuesday. The Hornets started the scoring in the 27th minute with a Brennan Munson goal off a Trent Norman assist.
Maryville tied the game in the 80th minute on a direct kick following a hand ball from 25 yards out, according the Hornets Coach Tim Cunningham.
In overtime, Ethan Corbin scored the winning goal off a Ben Cueni-Smith assist in the 81st minute. Hornets Goal Keeper Daniel Hedrick had nine saves.
Coach Cunningham said his Hornets defense played a very solid match. He said Ethan Corbin, Jacob Chapman, Carter Allen, Noah Crowe and Brendon Nelson “held an explosive Maryville offense to just one goal.”
Chillicothe improves to 4-6 and 1-0 in MEC play while Maryville falls to 5-2-1.
