The Chillicothe Football picked up their third win on the season with a 34-19 win at St Joseph Benton. The Officials were kept busy with Benton flagged 13 times for 125 yards. Chillicothe was flagged 14 times for 108 yards.
The Hornets scored on their opening drive when the Hornets went to the air.
The extra point was no good and Chillicothe led 6-0. Benton answered on their next drive with a short run and kick for a 7-6 Benton lead.
The Hornets scored in the second on a Lavery Jones 6 yard run and a Dawson Wheeler conversion run, then on a Jaden Winder 2 yard run.
In the third quarter Wheeler punched it in from 10 yards out for a 28-7 lead.
Benton responded later in the third on a 3 yard pass but Chillicothe scored again late in the third on a Wheeler 30 yard run to finish a 4 play 78 yards drive.
Benton scored with 2:24 left in the game for the 34-19 Chillicothe win.
The Hornets had 223 yards rushing led by Dawson Wheeler’s 130 yards and Winder completed three of five passes for 119 yards to three different receivers.
The two teams meet again Friday at Chillicothe in the first round of the District football tournament. Kick Off is 7:00pm and KCHI will have full coverage.
