Chillicothe fought off a sluggish 2nd quarter to dominate the second half in a 41-20 win over Benton. The district opening round game was a re-match from one week ago at Benton.
Chillicothe had first quarter touchdowns from Isaak Rasche and Dawson Wheeler in the first quarter to lead 14-0.
Benton scored three touchdowns in the second quarter for a 20-14 lead at halftime.
Chillicothe bounced back in the second half with Kam Ward with two rushing touchdowns, Jaden Winder with a touchdown run and Winder to Ward for a touchdown pass for the final score of 41-20.
Chillicothe rushed for 354 yards and passed for 92 while Benton rushed for 145 yards and passed for 57.
For the first time this season, Chillicothe won the turnover battle, losing one interception and one fumble. The Hornets Defense recovered the opening kick off fumble by Benton, had a Colten Sewell Interception and a Brad Hayen fumble recovery that he returned 70 yards to the 13 yard line.
Chillicothe plays at Maryville next Friday.
