The update to Chillicothe’s animal ordinance means no roosters and a chicken license requirement. The Chillicothe City Council approved the ordinance that includes no limit on the number of hens allowed. The council did approve a license fee of $20 per year, with a 50% late fee if the animal owners do not meet the license requirement.
Chicken owners who have roosters will have until September 27th to re-home or otherwise dispose of the roosters and obtain the license. If you have questions, contact the City Clerk at 660-646-1877.
