A Heat Advisory continues for much of the KCHI listening area until 1:00 pm today, and an EXCESSIVE HEAT WARNING is issued for Daviess, Grundy, Linn, Livingston, and Sullivan Counties from 1:00 pm Tuesday to 7:00 pm Wednesday
For the Heat Advisory, heat index values could reach up to 103. For the Excessive Heat Warning, this means dangerously hot conditions with heat index values up to 112 are expected.
The National Weather Service recommends you drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.
Water is best. Avoid drinks with caffeine as they promote the elimination of fluids.
Cooling center locations in Chillicothe that are available to the public include: Livingston County Health Center, Calvary Baptist Church, YMCA, and the Livingston County Library. These are available during regular business hours.
