Council Reviews Police Facility Proposal

Conceptual drawings and sight layout of the new Chillicothe Police Department were presented to the Council on Monday.  A Representative from Hoeffer Welker Architects was in attendance to explain the design and answer questions. He explained the building would be located facing Cherry Street, on the lots adjacent to the Police Department Parking Area.

Currently at 10,700 square feet

The public entrance would be from Cherry Street, with a carport or Sally Port for bringing detainees into the building on the south end, and officers entering from the alley side of the building.

City Attorney Robert Cowherd expressed concerns about parking on Cherry Street, with limited on-street parking and no public lot available.

Hoeffer Welker Architects will take these and other concerns into consideration and rework the site plan and building to meet the requirements presented.
