Wheeling Man Charged In Scheme To Steal From Retail Business

A contract employee at a retail business in Chillicothe is charged in a scheme to steal from the business.  Chillicothe Police investigated the report and alleges that 36-year-old Skylar Ray Tipton of Wheeling, while working as a contract employee for a cell phone company inside the retailer, purchased phones in a monthly contract, paying taxes and first-month payment.  Then would return the phone for a full refund, handling the entire transaction without employee involvement.  He is alleged to have returned and refunded phones for a total of $1,793.57.

Tipton is charged with alleged Stealing – $750 or more – a felony.  His initial appearance is set for February 5th in Livingston County Associate Court.

Tipton had previously been charged in Livingston County with alleged stealing and 2 counts of forgery.   That case involved alleged fraudulent checks, including one check he allegedly cashed and received $1,725.  Tipton had allegedly attempted to deposit three checks into the local bank and all three checks had the same check number.  One check was for $3,450 and two for $4,950. His next appearance is on January 22nd.
