A gateway welcoming visitors to Chillicothe. Community and business leaders gathered to discuss the topic as part of an economic development summit. The City of Chillicothe recently applied for and received approval for a $30,000 grant from the State of Missouri to assist with the project. The city would have to match that to receive the funding and it would have to be spent by June 30th.
Russ Volmert from FORA Planning and Design told those in attendance there are several factors to consider.
Recognizable, describable, and uniquely Chillicothe.
Other factors include location, size, relatability to the community, and more than just a sign.
It should be something that will represent the community for generations.
The City of Chillicothe will lead the project as they are awarded the grant. But, a consensus of organizations will be important to make this project a reality.
