Hornets Boys Wrestling Sending Four Athletes To State Following Strong District Effort

The Chillicothe Hornets boys wrestling team competed in the Class 2 District 4 wrestling tournament at Excelsior Springs over the weekend. The Hornets showed well throughout the event, claiming one individual district championship and earning four bids to the state meet.

 

Bo Smith was perfect on the weekend, with four wins to earn the district championship in the 285 class defeating Excelsior Springs’ Justin Wright in the championship. Smith remains undefeated in matches on the season at 42-0. The Hornets also had three other state qualifiers, Tucker Slattery at 190 finished 3rd place, Carter Shipers was also 3rd at 138 and Martin Moore came in 4th place at 215.

 

Smith, Slattery, Shipers and Moore will all compete in the state finals in Colombia on Wednesday and Thursday. As a team the Hornets placed 7th in district amongst 16 schools, Odessa finished 1st.
