A Chillicothe man was honored at the Missouri Association of School Administrators Spring Conference. Ed Douglas was awarded the prestigious Northwest Friend of Education Award. Douglas is the Presiding Commissioner for Livingston County and the President of the Chillicothe Educational Foundation, an organization that has made significant contributions to the Chillicothe School District and its students.
Under his direction, the Chillicothe Education Foundation has raised funds through the annual Teacher of the Year reception. They have provided funding the the Teacher of the Year and Beacon programs, for mini-grants that are awarded to teachers twice a year.
Douglas says they have donated to the construction of the new Chillicothe Elementary School and worked with other foundations to secure land for the district for future expansion. They have helped with facility enhancement that includes both recreation and safety.
