The Chillicothe Hornets baseball team was 3-0 in the MEC entered their road clash against Lafayette.
Chillicothe raced out to an early lead scoring two in the 3rd and adding another in the 4th to take a 3-0 lead, but a big 6th inning from Lafayette doomed the Hornets in the contest. The Fighting Irish were trailing 3-2 in the bottom of the 6th before reeling off four runs to win 6-3. Chillicothe had double the amount of hits in the game but it was not enough to stop the upset minded Irish.
Chillicothe was scheduled to host the Hornet Classic this weekend, however it had to be canceled due to the inclement weather. Chillicothe now 14-8 on the season will next play at Maryville on Tuesday.
