Donald “Donnie” Gene Reid

Donald “Donnie” Gene Reid, age 83, a resident of Chillicothe, Missouri, passed away on Thursday, February 26, 2026, at Indian Hills, Chillicothe, Missouri.

Donnie was born the son of William “Bill” Tolliver and Mary Helen (Hinnen) Reid on June 24, 1942, in Jamesport, Missouri.  He attended Chillicothe High School. Donnie was united in marriage to Wanda Lee Fox on August 11, 1963, in Chula, Missouri. She preceded him in death on September 20, 2003.

Donnie enjoyed bowling, playing horseshoes, spending time at McDonald’s with his friends, fishing, playing cards, watching NASCAR and attending dirt track racing. He was an avid Kansas City Chiefs fan and loved tinkering in his shed.

Survivors include one son, Gene (Karlene) Reid, of Overland Park, Kansas; one daughter, Theresa Jones of Chillicothe, Missouri; six grandchildren; Tiffany (Wilbur) Borja, Colbi Stottlemyre, Brandyn Berry, Hailey (Andrew) Johnsen, Ethan Newsom and Emerson Newsom; nine great grandchildren and one great great grandson. He is also survived by three sisters, Brenda (Cecil) Samm, of Chillicothe, Missouri, Anna Bowe of Kirksville, Missouri, and Della Ishmael of Avalon, Missouri; several nieces and nephews; and numerous cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Wanda Reid; granddaughter, Sheyanne Reid; and his twin brother, Ronald Reid and sister-in-law, Dorothy Reid.

Funeral services will be held at Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at 11:00 a.m.  A scheduled visitation will be held at Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Saturday, March 7, 2026, one hour before the service at 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Chillicothe, Missouri. Memorial contributions may be made to the National Kidney Foundation and may be left at or mailed to Lindley Funeral Home, P.O.
