Rosamond “Rose” Ilene Owens, age 99, a resident of Chillicothe, Missouri, passed away on Sunday, August 30, 2026 at Morningside Center, Chillicothe, Missouri.
Rose was born on February 7, 1927 in Shelbyville, Indiana, the daughter of John and Muriel Myer. She was united in marriage to Robert “Bob” Ewing Owens in Richmond, Missouri, in 1945. They were married 28 years before he preceded her in death in 1973.
Rose spent many years sewing gloves at both Lambert Glove and Midwest Gloves, finishing her career with Lambert Glove factory when they closed in 2004. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Chillicothe, Missouri, where she spent many years in the nursery, taking care of the babies. She loved participating in events and outings with her friends in the Jewell Dowell Group. Rose also enjoyed staying active, she volunteered with the Meals-on-Wheels program and walked at the YMCA. She spent time working jig-saw puzzles, playing bingo and doing embroidery.
Survivors include her daughter, Judy Gibson (Stan) of Brookfield, Missouri; her son John Owens of Liberty, Missouri; one sister, Carolyn Crafton of Fairland, Indiana; and two brothers, Kenny Myer and Don Myer, both of Shelbyville, Indiana. She was a proud grandmother to eight grandchildren, Lisa Metry (Greg), Gene Hibner (Tammy), Billy Hibner (Tina), Robbin Schmidt, Debbie Dennis (Mike), Nan Anderson, Denise Bucholz (Brian) and Mark Owens; 11 great grandchildren; 14 great-great grandchildren and four great-great-great grandchildren; along with many nieces, nephews and cousins; including Sheila Schlarb and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bob; three sisters, Esther Ellison, Maxine Patterson and Annabelle Williamson; two brothers, Haskell Myer and John Myer, Jr.; one step-son, Spencer Owens and a great granddaughter, Nicole Allen.
Funeral services will be held at Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri on Friday, September 4, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. A scheduled visitation will be held at Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri on Thursday, September 3, 2026 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. The register book will be available to sign at Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri on Thursday, September 3, 2026 from 12:00 noon until 8:00 p.m. Burial will be held at Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Chillicothe, Missouri.
