Should the City of Chillicothe build a new city hall or remodel the current facility? The City Council was asked to consider the current state of City Hall and the options of fixing up the building or replacing it. Councilman At Large Tom Ashbrook made the presentation at Monday’s City Council meeting.
Ashbrook says there is already a plan to remodel the current building in four phases.
First phase is the roof and the outside.
He says a complete remodel and repair of the building could cost about $10 million and could be spread out over several years.
Ashbrook says a new building could be cheaper.
The police department cost was $8 million and has features that a City Hall would not need.
No decisions were made at Monday’s meeting. The council will be considering what will be done and how soon they will start.
