A man serving a life sentence for murder, who had escaped custody in Tennessee, was captured in Carroll County. The Missouri Highway Patrol reports Jacob Allen Morley escaped from the Northwestern Correctional Complex in Tiptonville, TN, on October 26th. At about 9:30 am today (November 3rd), the Highway Patrol received information that Morley may be traveling westbound on Interstate 70 near Independence.
Morley’s vehicle was located using cameras and was later located by undercover officers. The Kansas City Police Department was also able to locate the vehicle with their helicopter and began to follow it.
The vehicle traveled onto Carroll County Road 515 and attempted to travel off the roadway and became stuck. It was then that a trooper confronted Morley and, at approximately 11:34 a.m., took him into custody without incident.
