The presentation of the Wabash Railroad/Industrial Neighborhood Survey included materials that are under review by the State Historic Preservation Office or SHPO. The survey area includes 117 sites or structures. Many of the structures are from between 1900 and 1985, a period when rail transportation was important.
Dustin Rennells, Chair of the Chillicothe Historic Preservation Commission, explained what the next steps are.
SHPO will look into the information and make recommendations.
Rennells says the survey of the area has taken a considerable amount of time.
Documentation for each property includes up to five documents.
Chillicothe does have other historic districts, and this consideration could open avenues for funding and future development.
