In accordance with a new law, signed by Governor Mike Kehoe, as of August 28th the new minimum age for marriage is 18 years old. The Livingston County Recorder of Deeds, Amy Baker, says
Effective August 28, 2025, the Livingston County Recorder of Deeds will fully comply with this change by updating office procedures to ensure no licenses are issued to applicants under 18.
Baker says, As required by law, all marriage license applicants must provide proof of age, such as a certified birth certificate, valid passport, or other government-issued identification.
