The Missouri Auditor’s Office is conducting an audit of the City of Brookfield at the request of its residents. The state received a petition containing signatures of 254 residents, one more than required.
Missouri State Auditor Scott Fitzpatrick says, “We take the concerns of the citizens of Brookfield very seriously and appreciate the time and effort they put into gathering the signatures necessary to trigger this audit. We will conduct a thorough review of the city’s operations that will give citizens a better understanding of how their city government is operating and how it can improve.”
The audit will also give city officials direction to help them become more transparent, effective, and efficient.
