Weekend Chillicothe Police Report

Nearly 260 calls for service were handled by the Chillicothe Police Department from Friday through Sunday.  Reports include several welfare checks, alarm calls, and motor vehicle crashes.

Friday, August 28

Chillicothe Police Officers responded to multiple welfare checks, with residents found safe and in no immediate need of assistance. A verbal domestic disturbance on Polk Street was reported, with the involved parties advised to separate for the evening. Two separate two-vehicle crashes were investigated, including one at Highway 65 and Highway 36. One driver was cited for driving while suspended or revoked. No serious injuries were reported. Officers also transported a person voluntarily to Hedrick Medical Center for an evaluation.

Saturday, August 29

Police responded to a trespassing complaint at a South Washington Street business, where an employee reported a verbally confrontational customer. Officers also checked on three children left in a running vehicle and found no violations. The most serious incident occurred on Walnut Street, where officers determined a domestic assault had taken place. A female suspect was taken into custody, medically evaluated, processed at the police department, and transported to the Caldwell County Detention Center. Officers also investigated a reported threat involving a dispute over fireworks, but determined no criminal threat had occurred.

Sunday, August 30

Sunday calls included a late-night disturbance involving people shining lights into a residence, a commercial burglar alarm that was determined to be false, and a report of eggs being thrown at a parked vehicle. Officers also responded to another false burglar alarm Sunday night. A suspicious vehicle at a school property was checked, and the occupant left after being advised the vehicle was not wanted on the property after hours. Police also conducted traffic stops, business checks, vehicle checks and follow-up
