Wheeling Fire Fighters protected the lives of a semi load of pigs Sunday morning. Livingston County 911 called the Wheeling Rural Fire Department to respond to US 36 and LIV 259 for a semi that had broken down on the side of the road. The call came in at about 9:10 am.
Temperatures at the time were climbing quickly from near 85 degrees at 9:00 am to 97 by 11:00 am.
The truck driver requested the fire department assist in cooling the pigs using the water on the truck. The fire crew was on the scene for about 45 minutes
