A 14-year-old girl from Wheeling was injured when the UTV she was riding in overturned Thursday afternoon. State Troopers report the girl was a passenger in the UTV driven by a 15-year-old girl from Wheeling. At about 1:57 pm, they were westbound on LIV 236, just west of Wheeling, when the UTV began to slide and ran off the southside of the road. She struck a ditch and the UTV overturned, coming to rest on the passenger side.
The driver was not injured. The passenger was taken to Hedrick Medical Center in Chillicothe for treatment of moderate injuries.
They were not wearing safety gear or properly restrained.
