Announcement For Grand River Technical School Raises Questions

With the earlier announcement of federal funding for Grand River Technical School, several questions have been raised, but officials don’t have all the answers yet.  One question is where the building would be located.  GRTS Director Adam Wolf explained that is not known at this time.

Likely at the north campus.

Superintendent Dr. Dan Wiebers says that it would depend on the scope of the project.  A remodel could leave the campus where it sits now, while new construction could be on property north of the new Elementary School.

What would a new building cost?  Officials said cost will be a factor, and securing those funds may take some time.  Wolf estimated a NEW building could run around $50 million.

A solid price won’t be known until the district works with architects and engineers to determine what the district NEEDS and the school board determines what they can afford.
