About one acre of uncut soybeans was lost to fire Thursday afternoon. The Grundy County Rural Fire Protection District received the call at 2:15 pm and responded to the field at Route NN, a mile north of Route N. Fire crews arrived to find 10 acres of cut beans had already burned, and an additional one acre of uncut beans was burning.
Fire crews used two brush trucks to put out the fire. They were on the scene for about 90 minutes. The cause of the fire was undetermined.
