Charges Against Sullivan County Administrator

The Sullivan County Public Administrator is facing charges that include financial exploitation of the elderly or disabled.  The Missouri Highway Patrol investigated the complaint against 65-year-old Joan Brummitt, who had been assigned limited conservatorship of a partially disabled person on October 13th.

The probable cause statement indicates Brummitt was ordered to handle the victim’s financial resources and property, but on four occasions, used the conservatorship to obtain funds for her personal use. Charges are filed in Sullivan County Court that include four counts each of alleged financial exploitation of the elderly or disabled and Stealing – $750 or more.

Judge Adam Warren has recused himself from the case, and the case will be reassigned.
