Chillicothe PD – Professional Development

A member of the Chillicothe Police Department leadership staff has completed specialized training that will assist the department in investigations.  Sergeant Preston Sandner is the dedicated Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) in the department and recently attended the IACP Impaired Driving and Traffic Safety Conference – the nation’s largest training event for drug recognition professionals and traffic safety experts.

 

Training received at the event includes:

  • Latest impaired driving enforcement techniques
  • Emerging drug trends and identification
  • Leadership development
  • Cannabis and psilocybin impairment detection
  • Advanced DRE protocols
  • Law enforcement phlebotomy (blood draws)
  • Current toxicology trends

 

Sgt. Sandner’s expertise not only benefits Chillicothe but extends throughout our region, as he regularly assists other law enforcement agencies with DRE services.  The training was made possible through a MoDOT Grant.
