Cops Playing And Building Community

An impromptu community policing event was held Thursday at Danner Park as officers took time out of their patrolling activities to meet and interact with children.  Officers distributed badge stickers to over fifty children and joined them in playground activities.  Captain Jeremiah Grider says it was an opportunity to build positive relationships with the youth.

Engaging with the youth builds trust.

The officers are working to build a foundation of positive relationships between law enforcement and our community’s youngest members.   The goal is to connect with children in a fun, relaxed setting, while building trust that will serve our community for years to come.

The officers will seek opportunities to spend time with the youth in the community in unplanned activities and in planned events.

Captain Grider says Saturday officers will participate in the Bike Rodeo at the Chillicothe Elementary School.  Monday, he and K-9 Enoch will have a demonstration with a local Boy Scout troop.
