Adopting revised editions of several building codes was approved by the Chillicothe City Council at the urging of Codes Officer Gill Gates.
The Council approved the 2021 edition of the International Fuel Gas.
For the Building Codes, the council approved the 2021 versions. Gates says if the city doesn’t update and there is a disaster, they may not qualify for federal relief.

They also adopted the 2020 version of the Electrical Code.
He also explained why they are not adopting the latest versions from 2024.
Additional revisions could be made to the newest version.
The city will need to publish the update before it takes effect.
