Farmers’ Electric Essay Contest

The 2026 Essay Contest for the Farmers’ Electric Cooperative is now open. Each year, the coop sponsors local high school students to enjoy a once-in-a-lifetime, all-expense-paid trip.  The essay contest provides the opportunity for two high school juniors to travel to Washington, D.C, for the Youth Tour, spending a week with students from across the country.

Additionally, three high school sophomores will win a 4-day trip to the Cooperative Youth Conference and Leadership Experience (CYCLE) in Jefferson City.

The essay contest is open to high school sophomores or juniors.  You do not need to be from a cooperative member family.

This year’s topic for the essay…

Choose one of the seven cooperative principles and explain how Farmers’ Electric Cooperative demonstrates that principle in action.
