The Livingston County Library will have a historical presentation honoring Lieutenant George Whiteman, the first American pilot killed in World War II. The program – Aunt Mildred Remembers Lt. George Whiteman – will be on Thursday at 6:00 pm, in the 2nd-floor courtroom of the main library.
The program allows you to experience Lt. Whiteman’s story through his aunt – Mildred Whiteman Rogers. This includes highlighting his childhood, education, and dream of flying from Missouri to Hawaii.
The performance is set in 1955 and reflects on the family’s pride and sorrow at the Sedalia Army Air Corps Base was named in his honor.
